LATEST NEWS

Christmas Voices - our new CD of Christmas music - is now available.

Christmas Voices is a collaboration with singer/songwriter Phil Martin to record Phil's own Nativity 'Worship the King' and a selection of Christmas carols, including firm favourites and some less well-known ones. (Click here for a list of the carols on the CD.) The Nativity music was arranged for choir by our musical director Laurie Reeve and retains the essence of Phil's original guitar-based composition. The CD was produced by Steve Parry (Dazzle Sound Productions).

We hope you enjoy our first foray into Christmas music! The CD costs £9 and you can order copies by downloading the order form below.

We'll also be selling copies of the CD at forthcoming events, including our concert in March.

Rehearsals for our next venture, our annual Winter concert entitled 'Victorious Voices in War and Peace', are currently under way on Mondays at 8:00pm at the Church of the Good Shepherd.

We are delighted to announce that HLOC's Rachel White won 'Best Supporting Female Performer in a Musical' at the 2010-2011 artsrichmond Swan Drama Awards,
for her performance as Little Buttercup in the 2010 production of HMS Pinafore.

About Us

Hounslow Light Opera has been around since 1903, which makes us one of the longest-established amateur dramatics companies in west London.

We are a friendly crowd, always eager to welcome new faces. Our performing year consists of an autumn musical show, a spring play and a winter concert.
Plenty to keep anybody's vocal cords busy!

We are mainly known as a Gilbert and Sullivan society, performing acclaimed productions of these comic operas. In the last few years we have expanded our portfolio. We have taken on Stephen Schwartz's The Baker's Wife and Cole Porter's Anything Goes, which we we've performed twice in recent years - in 2002 and again in 2011.
We have also branched out into drama, specialising in comedy and farce with occasional excursions into dramatisations of Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels. Previous plays have included Peter Shaffer's Black Comedy, Terry Pratchett's Mort and Maskerade, and the Ray Cooney farces It Runs In The Family and Move Over Mrs Markham.

We rehearse Monday evenings from 8:00 - 10:00pm at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Beavers Lane, Hounslow.

Our current basic membership fee is £30, which entitles you to take part in the concert and audition for the play.
For the main musical there's an additional 'show fee' of £54, making full membership £84 a year.
That's just £7 a month if you pay by standing order.
You can download a copy of our membership guide here.

(We are sorry to say that, due to the requirements of child protection legislation, we are currently unable to accept members aged under 18.)
